Laura A. Janda

Laura A. Janda grew up, received her education, and taught at several universities in the U.S. before moving to Norway in 2008. She now works as a professor of Russian linguistics at the University of Tromsø. Her career is mainly focused on researching, publishing, and editing works on Russian and general linguistics as well as developing pedagogical resources for language learners. She started learning North Saami as a hobby when found herself in the Arctic, but recently she has undertaken linguistic investigations of the language as well, using examples culled from literary and newspaper sources.

The Most Beautiful Dawn is the first novel that she has translated into English from North Saami.
